DALLAS – After Gregg Popovich answered our questions about what comes next for his team, he asked if any of us had carried a gun into the building.And he wasn’t even close to finished.
I expect him to coach again because his players still want him to, and because the kids in his locker room still make him laugh and curse and think and even occasionally dance like almost no other 74-year-old man does.
Coaching gives him a soapbox, and even if he can’t use it to change people’s minds, he dang sure can use it to make them pay attention. That, above everything else, was his objective Sunday, when he came to his pregame press briefing with a point to make, and handwritten notes to help him make it.
