KONSEP kepusatan Asean akan terus menjadi teras hubungan diplomatik Amerika Syarikat -Asean kerana negara itu ingin menjalin pakatan dan perkongsian lebih kukuh dengan negara di rantau ini, di bawah Strategi Bebas dan Terbuka Indo-Pasifik . Timbalan Penolong Setiausaha Pertahanan AS Reed Werner berkata konsep itu yang menekankan kemakmuran, kestabilan, kedamaian dan kedaulatan negara yang dikongsi bersama di Indo-Pasifik, menjadi panduan bagaimana AS melihat serta mendekati Asean.
