Harris County this week officially surpassed one million confirmed COVID-19 cases, according to state health department data, but medical experts say the true number is likely much higher.

“I think what you're seeing reported on a day-to-day basis now probably reflects only 20% of the total number of cases we're seeing,” McDeavitt said. “That's because so many people are home testing.
