As Amazon lands in SA, Equites sees no sign of logistics demand abating

With a vacancy factor of zero in its portfolio, Equites, the JSE's only logistics property pure play, expects the strong demand for modern, environmentally friendly warehousing to continue unabated.

According to CEO Andrea Taverna-Turisan, this is not just being fuelled by the likes of US giant Amazon opening shop and encouraging other local retailers to up their logistics game, but by businesses across all industries looking to keep up to date with the modern world. "Anybody in an old building wanting to operate a business-to-business group or a business-to-consumer business, or in the retail environment and wanting to effectively compete against the laws of the 21st century, had better look closely at their real estate solution and make sure it works," he told News24, adding:South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
