ALTHOUGH foreign artistes are allowed to perform in the country, they must respect the sensitivities and the local customs of Malaysians, says Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
In a written reply to Ahmad Fadhli Shaari , he said the government would not stop any international celebrities or artistes from performing in the country as it believed that such events helped in the development of the creative industry as well as contributed to economic growth.
Fahmi said when considering applications for concerts from foreign artistes, the Central Agency for Application for Filming and Performance by Foreign Artistes and the committee under it would focus on elements related to public sensitivities as well as national security.“Any non-compliance or violation of conditions during the event may be subject to administrative action as stated in Puspal guidelines,” said Fahmi.
