Arthur Serkov is running for seat Q in the Alaska State Senate.
He said he is running because he thinks Alaska needs to take a broader view of what’s happening on a federal level, specifically the potential for the U.S. dollar to collapse. “Our state politicians, house members, senate members, governor-level, nobody is discussing this. Nobody is talking about how to get Alaska to have its own guarantee of security, fiscal security, which ultimately is the only thing that really matters.
Serkov explained the negative effect such a loss of value for the dollar would have on Alaska. “The dollar collapses, the state has no money, and then, because of a general emergency situation, we’re going to be forced to negotiate through unfavorable terms for our resources.” He said he’s not running with an agenda, and hopes to work with the rest of the legislature to convert the Permanent Fund into silver. “Maybe some kind of compromise, maybe like 10% or whatever of the fund needs to be in silver or gold so that if things do happen that the dollar loses its position, that we have enough wiggle room with some real assets,” Serkov said.
Serkov is running against John Bennett and incumbent Robb Myers in the primary election on August 16.
