An investigation is under way after a man died following an alleged assault at a house in Limerick in the early hours of this morning.
A man, in his 40s, was found unresponsive outside the house and was pronounced dead a short time later.
The man's body remains at the scene, which has been preserved for a forensic examination and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified. Another man, also aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene and is being held at a garda station in Limerick. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly anyone who was in the Sarsfield Avenue area this morning between 4am and 5.15am, and who may have camera footage , to contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212 400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
