Police in Graham County, Arizona, say a 40-year-old man is dead after being shot by his 74-year-old stepfather during a confrontation that turned physical.

The man with facial injuries was Farar’s stepfather, 74-year-old Stan French, who was also taken to a nearby hospital. "In the preliminary stage of this investigation, the Sheriff’s Office has learned Derek Farar had an active order of protection in place restricting him from contact with Stan French when this incident occurred," the sheriff's office said.
