The Arizona Coyotes paid a big price again for its penalties with the Buffalo Sabres converting two of its five power play opportunities in Saturday's 5-2 loss at Mullett Arena.
“They’re a dangerous team, they stretch fast, they play fast," Coyotes center Barrett Hayton said."That top line is so dangerous, that power play is so dangerous. It’s definitely a challenge and you got to be really focused when you play teams like that and little errors can end up in the back of the net.”The Coyotes and Sabres both earned the man advantage three times in the first period with each team capitalizing once.
Hayton plugged away at center the last 28 games with only four assists. Hayton made positive strides the night before when his screen at the goal set up Clayton Keller’s goal in the second period. “It’s been a long time and you try not to think about it, but it’s definitely there and it’s nice to get that one off my back and get rolling,” Hayton said.
Thompson's 25th goal of the season became the game-winning goal during the man advantage at 10:06 in the third period. Thompson, who was born in Arizona, finished the night with three points .
