Karate exponent Mohd Arif Afifuddin has made it to the Asian Games final in the men's below 84kg category.
HANGZHOU: Debutant Mohd Arif Afifuddin has put himself in a position to deliver a gold for Malaysia in the Asian Games karate competition today after storming to the men's below 84kg final at Linping Sports Gymnasium. The 23-year-old will contest the final to take place later this afternoon after Baek Jun-hyeok of South Korea 5-2 in the semi-final.
Arif, who won the South-East Asia Karate championship title earlier this year, takes on Daniyar Yuldashev of Kazakhstan in the final. Arif opened his campaign by beating Vietnam's Do Thanh Nhan 2-0 and he defeated Sandi Firmansah of Indonesia in the quarter-finals.The karate team already have two silvers to show from Lovelly Anne Robberth in the women's individual kata and in the team kata .
