You’ve probably seen the headlines, if not followed every detail: Madix’s partner of nine years had a months-long affair with another cast member on Vanderpump Rules, the reality show on which they all starred. The tryst was so notorious that it became its own proper noun: Scandoval.
I try to tell myself too that everyone is different and everyone is unique and everyone has different capabilities and relationships with their bodies, and I can only be me. When I started to gain weight during my recovery, there was a lot of chatter about that—people saying, “She’s gained a lot of weight.” I feel like people were looking at the version of me that was unhealthy as the baseline and thinking that was healthy, and then everything after was not healthy.
