When it comes to Apple audio products, most Malaysians are familiar with the AirPods. But while the Apple HomePod series has been around for some years, it's never made its way to Malaysia. Fortunately, that's about to change soon.
In an official announcement, Apple confirmed that the 2nd generation HomePod and the HomePod mini will be available in Malaysia from 10 May 2024 onwards. These speakers leverage computational audio to deliver high-quality audio while maintaining a stylish and compact design. The HomePod series is compatible with Apple Music, providing access to over 100 million songs and audio tracks. They also come with Siri installed, so you can perform voice commands to search for music or tracks based on artist, year, genre, mood, etc. Besides their audio capabilities, the HomePod and HomePod mini support smart home automation via Siri. It allows you to check room temperature, get notifications, and more.
Lastly, let's talk about what you've been waiting for - pricing. The HomePod will retail for RM1549 in Malaysia. As for the smaller HomePod mini, it will be priced at a more modest RM529. For iPhone or iPad users, the latest iOS or iPadOS version you can access is recommended for use with the HomePod series.
