JOHOR BARU: The appeal to extend the five-day remand period for a Rohingya refugee known as 'Long Tiger” was rejected by the Muar Magistrate's Court on Saturday (May 2).

JOHOR BARU: The appeal to extend the five-day remand period for a Rohingya refugee known as"Long Tiger” was rejected by the Muar Magistrate's Court on Saturday .

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said that the 31-year-old suspect, however, was arrested again after a new case was reported at the Tangkak district police headquarters under Section 388 of the Penal Code for extortion. “The suspect was arrested again at the Muar district police headquarters at 5.45pm on Saturday by officers from the Tangkak district police headquarters under a new report," he said in a statement here on Sunday .

The new remand appeal is made according to Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code and had been approved by the Tangkak Magistrate's Court for three days starting May 3.
