It might cost him the chance to be PM, but two other analysts say Anwar has no choice but to agree that Zuraida must go. FMTNews AnwarIbrahim ZuraidaKamaruddin
State leaders aligned with PKR president Anwar Ibrahim have demanded the expulsion of vocal vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin.
Two other analysts who spoke to FMT said, however, they believed Anwar would have no choice but to agree that she must go, in order to strengthen his position as party leader. “The situation is quite complicated and not as straight forward as the state chiefs are perhaps trying to portray,” Azmi said.
As Zuraida is a member of Mahathir’s cabinet, her expulsion from the party could lead to her supporters, and Azmin’s, openly calling for Mahathir to remain as prime minister. “Anwar has no choice but to show that he is the boss and can win the internal battle in PKR to show he can lead,” said Chin.
