Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that there is no need for further explanation regarding the new guidelines for Muslims attending non- Islam ic events. He emphasized the importance for all Muslims to uphold their faith and be aware of religious prohibitions. Anwar clarified that attending non- Islam ic events by Muslims does not cross any boundaries, but is simply a matter of reciprocating invitations and not engaging in religious ceremonies.
\He explained that Malaysia, while being an Islamic country, is also a multi-ethnic and multi-religious nation. To ensure peace and harmony, it is crucial to respect all parties. Anwar used the example of his presence at a Hindu community event and the potential for an Indian community member attending a Muslim celebration at a mosque. \He stressed that attending such events is not about participating in religious rituals but rather about social courtesies. Anwar reiterated that while there are rules and guidelines within Islam, there is no issue with engaging in interfaith social interactions. He also mentioned that the Cabinet's decision on the new guidelines did not pose any problems and he will present it to Sultan Nazrin Shah, the President of the National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs Malaysia (MKI), urging against unnecessary complications or anxieties within the community
