In Johol town, a small oil station with only two pumps and a premises of about two square meters is believed to be over 100 years old. Despite its age and size, it remains a popular choice among locals and even those from neighboring areas, due to its relaxed atmosphere. Zainuddin Ismail, 61, from Air Mawang, Johol, has been using the historic site for fuel since he was young, expressing hope that it will be preserved due to its historical value.
KUALA PILAH: Walaupun hanya mempunyai dua pam dan struktur premis berkeluasan kira-kira dua meter persegi sahaja namun stesen minyak dipercayai berusia lebih 100 tahun di pekan Johol di sini, tetap menjadi pilihan penduduk.
Zainuddin Ismail, 61, dari Air Mawang, Johol berkata, dia sudah mula mengisi minyak di lokasi bersejarah itu sejak masih muda. “Saya harap ia dapat dikekalkan memandangkan nilai sejarahnya sangat berharga sama seperti bangunan bersejarah di sini,” katanya ketika ditemui di sini semalam. Malah menurutnya yang sudah bekerja kira-kira 10 tahun, kemudahan tersebut dimanfaatkan sepenuhnya penduduk setempat yang kebanyakkan membeli minyak dalam jumlah yang kecil.
