Members attached to the Anti-Gang-Unit are making inroads against the proliferation of guns and acts of violence in the Province through a focussed intelligence-driven approach by their Combat Team who reacted on information and searched various identified premises in hotspot areas such as Lavender Hill, Steenberg and Eersterivier where there has been sporadic incidents of gunfire.

The members also pounced on a residence in Grindall Avenue, Lavender Hill where they ensued with a search. They found a 23-year-old man in possession of a 9mm Z88 pistol without a serial number and two rounds of ammunition. The man was arrested for the illegal possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
