A sinkhole has appeared on the access road to the VIP Complex at KLIA, Malaysia. The Ministry of Public Works (JKR) suspects a leaking pipe as the cause and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) is monitoring the situation. Despite the incident, roads remain accessible with safety measures in place.

In a series of pictures shared by the Ministry of Public Works on its Facebook page, the sinkhole happened this morning on the access road to the VIP Complex – the Bunga Raya Complex. The sinkhole has a depth of 1 meter, a width of 5.4 meters, and a length of over 4 meters.According to JKR, a leaking pipe is suspected to be the cause of the sinkhole at the moment. Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad has been informed of the incident and monitoring works are being done.

JKR stated that inspections at the site revealed the sewer line near the sinkhole is owned by KLIA. Despite the sinkhole, the roads remain accessible to the public. The location closest to the sinkhole, however, is closed off for safety reasons. MAHB has implemented a Traffic Management Plan in the area to ensure smooth traffic flow.
