Work crews prepare to remove a whale from the beach in Long Branch, N.J. August 13, 2023A dead humpback whale washed up on the Jersey Shore on Saturday, officials with the Marine Mammal Stranding Center said.
As of Sunday afternoon the carcass remained on the Long Branch beach where it was first spotted, and local officials are working with the Stranding Center and the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society to remove the whale, the Stranding Center told NJ Advance Media in an email.
