R.I.P. Annie Ross
On the stage, Ross appeared in the musical revueThe Threepenny OperaBorn July 25, 1930, in Surrey, England, Ross was the daughter of Scottish vaudevillians who sent her to Los Angeles when she was 4 to live with an aunt.
After splitting with Lambert and Hendricks, Ross in 1964 opened a London nightclub called Annie's Room. Her career suffered in the '60s because of an addiction to heroin and a relationship with controversial comedian Lenny Bruce. More recently, she was a cabaret mainstay. , Ross was named a Jazz Master in 2010 by the National Endowment for the Arts and was the subject of a documentary,Survivors include her son, Kenny Clarke Jr. Her brother, popular Scottish comedian Jimmy Logan, died in 2001.
