Matt Chapman hit a grand slam against Detmers to spark a sixth-inning rally, and Ryan Tepera allowed four more runs in the seventh inning as the Angels turned a 6-0 lead into a 10-6 deficit.
Gio Urshela led off with a single, then Romano struck out Logan O’Hoppe. Romano got Mike Trout to foul tip a slider into the catcher’s mitt for strike three, before Shohei Ohtani walked to load the bases. Carlos Estevez was summoned to pitch the 10th inning with a runner on second base. The right-hander allowed three hits and two runs, lowlighted by an RBI double by Kevin Kiermaier that put Toronto ahead for good. Kiermaier also singled and tripled in the game, finishing with five RBIs.
