Jo Adell homered in his first game back in the majors, Reid Detmers finally posted his first win of the season and the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Chicago Cubs 3-1 on Thursday to complete their third series sweep of the year.

"It was real exciting to put up that type of swing," said Adell, who was 1 for 3 and reached base twice. "I know I squared it up pretty well. I got a pitch to drive and didn’t miss it."The 117.2 mph exit velocity also made it the sixth-hardest-hit ball in the majors this season. Trey Mancini had an RBI double for Chicago, swept for the fourth time this year. The Cubs have dropped four in a row and 10 of 14.
Even with Adell’s home run, he appears to be the odd man out when Renfroe comes back Saturday. Nevin, though, is trying to make sure Adell continues to remain confident. "We have to find a way to produce runs," manager David Ross said. "When guys are struggling, the best thing we can do is try to help them find their way, whether it’s mechanical or mental."
