Anele Tembe's family also distance themselves from Melinda Ferguson's book When Love Kills

Tembe family spokesperson Manqoba Zungu said they did not commission its writing nor contribute to it"in any way."22-year-old Anele Tembe died in April 2021 after plummeting from the 10th storey of the Pepperclub Hotel after an allegedly violent altercation with AKA .

"At this stage, we cannot give any further comment on the book as we are unaware of its contents. We do, however, find the intended publication of the book and the timing distasteful and opportunistic." "Kiernan's back was full of scratches. Anele's nails were broken. There was blood from Anele on the floor in the room, splatters of Anele's blood on Kiernan's socks. We believe that after Anele dropped, Kiernan tried to clean all of this up but failed to do so," Moses told Ferguson.

Anele’s father, Moses Tembe, through TM Incorporated Attorneys, had told the NPA in the Western Cape that they believed Anele did not commit suicide but was pushed.Though the Tembe family expressed its disappointment in the delays experienced in the case, Moses, in an exclusive interview with thesaid he did not believe the probe into his daughter's death would be complete without AKA answering to what happened in the moments leading to Tembe's death.

"Whatever people were saying later about him, I gave him the benefit of the doubt right up to the last day. I loved Kiernan so much, and to that point, for us as a family, me in particular, as some kind of head of that family, I kept saying to my children, my parents and everyone who was affected by this that it's important to treat Kiernan like our own child so that we can actually be objective as this process starts.
