The Anchorage School District says after-school activities are canceled Thursday and rental facilities will also be closed.
In a message to families and staff, the district said school and support facilities would be closed Thursday because unsafe road conditions were expected. The district had also kept schools and facilities closed, and canceled after-school activities,District officials in an update Thursday morning said after-school activities were canceled for a second day and rental facilities would also be closed for community group activities. Schools are set to reopen Friday unless otherwise announced.
The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District, which also closed its schools Wednesday, announced early Thursday that it would keep most schools closed for the day. Schools that will be open are Trapper Creek Elementary, Talkeetna Elementary, Willow Elementary, Su Valley Jr/Sr High School and Glacier View School.
Mat-Su school officials in an update before noon announced that after-school activities and events are not cancelled and will be held Thursday. They encouraged participants to drive carefully if they chose to attend.
