Alaska State Troopers say an Anchorage man walking on the Sterling Highway died early Sunday when he was struck by a Subaru.
Michael Morgan, 68, was in the center of the southbound lane in the Happy Valley area when he was struck, troopersHappy Valley is about 22 miles northwest of Homer. The highway was closed for several hours in the area of Shady Lane,Morgan was dressed in black and the driver of the Subaru, a 42-year-old Homer resident, did not see him, according to troopers.
It wasn’t clear why Morgan was walking in the road, said troopers spokesman Austin McDaniel. He died at the scene, despite immediate first aid, troopers said.
