Judy Eledge, who ran unsuccessfully for the Anchorage School Board and has drawn controversy during her time working at the Anchorage library, was appointing to the Education Commission of the States.

Judy Eledge is a retired longtime educator, the president of the Anchorage Republican Women’s Club and an ally of Gov. Mike Dunleavy, who previously hired Eledge for education-related consulting services. The governorEledge lost a 2021 bid for the Anchorage School Board after several of her social media posts

Alaska’s representatives on the commission — which is charged with bringing together “the nation’s top education leaders” to exchange information on learning policy — most recently included Dunleavy, state Senate President Gary Stevens, state Rep. Andi Story of Juneau, and Alaska Board of Education and Early Development Chair James Fields.
