ANC vows change after Public Protector report says people and animals share dirty drinking water
Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka of a possible outbreak of waterborne diseases in the Eastern Cape after finding that villagers share water with livestock.The ANC in the Eastern Cape has promised to address the water crisis gripping some of the 37 of 39 councils it runs in the province – where people drink contaminated water used by animals.
The promise, by acting Premier MEC Mlungisi Mvoko, comes in the wake of newly appointed Public Protector Kholeka Gcaleka's 400-page report highlighting unreliable and interrupted service delivery in the province. She tabled the report - stemming from 60 service delivery complaints lodged with her office in February 2021 - on Friday during a media briefing at the Eastern Cape Legislature in Bhisho.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
