The ANC Veteran league calls for transparency and urges president Ramaphosa to make public the outcomes of his meeting with Justice Minister Simelane amid VBS loan allegations.
Published 1h agoThe ANC Veterans League is urging President Cyril Ramaphosa to publicly disclose the outcomes of his meeting with Justice Minister Thembi Simelane .
“All of us should be satisfied with the fact that the president has had a meeting with the minister and that the discussion at an appropriate time would be shared by the president and equally with the people of South Africa,” Ntuli said. He further noted that the ANC does not have a specific clause in the GNU regarding the discipline of executive members, as the president appoints them.
Several parties like the ActionSA, Democratic Alliance , Congress of the People and the Economic Freedom Fighters are gunning for the removal or resignation of Simelane amid the VBS scandal. He also noted the ANC’s concerns with how Steenhuisen has publicly addressed issues related to the department, suggesting that Steenhuisen’s public statements were inconsistent with the objective reality as previously indicated by former Minister now Speaker Thoko Didiza.
