The coalition includes eight nonprofits: the Opal Lee Foundation, Sol Ballet Folklórico, Tarrant County Coalition for Peace and Justice, DNAWORKS, LGBTQ Saves, the Welman Project, Window to Your World and the 1012 Youth Council.
The vision is to put the building to use in service to Black, Jewish, Hispanic, Catholic, immigrant, and LGBT populations — in other words, the very people terrorized by the KKK. “I dream the building comes to life with all these different groups that are addressing unity and freedom. I see it as a model for other cities,” she said.
