The celestial object known as 2018VP1 is projected to come close to Earth on November 2,. As its name suggests, it was discovered back in 2018 while it was around 450,000 kilometers away from Earth, so this is no surprise to scientists. Now, as it travels on its two-year orbital period, the Apollo-class asteroid is estimated to come within 4,994.76 kilometers of Earth, which is apparently very close in space terms.
Asteroid 2018VP1 is very small, approx. 6.5 feet, and poses no threat to Earth! It currently has a 0.41% chance of entering our planet’s atmosphere, but if it did, it would disintegrate due to its extremely small size.Because it’s so close, there’s a slight chance that it’ll hit Earth on the day before the U.S. election on November 2nd.
