This shift towards RedNote is seen as a protest against the US government's decision to ban TikTok. American creators, labelling themselves #TikTokRefugees, are actively encouraging their followers to join them on the platform, headquartered in Shanghai. The hashtag #TikTokRefugee has garnered over 60 million views and 1.7 million comments, reflecting the widespread sentiment among users. One Xiaohongshu user, Heather Roberts, expressed frustration in a video message, stating, 'Our government is out of their minds if they think we’re going to stand for this TikTok ban.
