: Amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 are being made due to the rapid technological advancements, which require society to rely on digital platforms for business purposes while also expecting protection, said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

It also recorded RM330 billion in approved investments last year compared to RM268 billion the previous year. The Bill, which seeks to increase penalties from RM300,000 to RM1 million for offences committed by data controllers or data processors who violate personal data protection principles, was passed with a majority voice vote after being debated by 21 Senators.
