Just days after discussing the potential launch of AMC-branded wine, CEO Adam Aron is touting the possibility of branded craft beer
AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. AMC, +5.77% CEO Adam Aron says the company is considering launching branded craft beer named in honor of investors that turned the movie-theater chain into a meme-stock darling.
“We are halfway through my Twitter poll on an AMC branded fine wine, with 68% of you saying go for it,” he tweeted. “Getting many responses from you about our doing an AMC branded craft beer at our theatres as well. We are liking the name ‘Great Ape Ale.’ What do you think?”“Great Ape” is a reference to the investors who turned the company into a meme stock, who often refer to themselves as “apes” or “ape nation.
The movie-theater chain is no stranger to bold moves, as evidenced by the company’s chain’s $27.9-million investment in gold and silver miner Hycroft Mining Holding Corp. HYMC, -2.60% last year. The movie-theater chain also took aim at its massive debt burden last year with the launch of its AMC Preferred Equity units.
