KUALA LUMPUR: Former auditor-general Tan Sri Ambrin Buang told the High Court that his conscience was clear when he agreed to the amendments to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd audit report despite being pressured into it.Ambrin, 70, said he made the amendments based on his judgment and facts that were presented to the National Audit Department at that time.
The witness was testifying at the joint trial of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy, dubbed as the PAC trial, here on Thursday . Ambrin said he had no choice but to make the amendments due to national interest issues raised by other attendees in a coordination meeting to discuss amendments on the 1MDB audit report on Feb 24,2016.
Four issues were agreed to be removed from the audit report, including two conflicting financial statements and fugitive financier Low Taek Jho's presence at a 1MDB meeting despite him having no official position in the company.
