Amazon workers in more than 20 countries, including the U.S., plan to strike during the busy pre-Christmas shopping days between Black Friday and Cyber Monday to “make Amazon pay.”
The “days of resistance” aim to “hold Amazon accountable for abuses, environmental degradation and threats to democracy,” according to organizers UNI Global Union and Progressive International.
Countries with striking workers include the U.S. — where employees will strike in “major cities” — the U.K., France, Germany, Japan, Brazil, India and Turkey, the organizers said. “The fact is, at Amazon we provide great pay, great benefits, and great opportunities — all from day one,” Amazon spokesperson Eileen Hards said.
