Amazon ordered employees to delete TikTok from their mobile devices, but then reversed itself, saying the email was sent 'in error'
In a statement, a company spokesperson said an email urging employees to immediately remove the short-video app from their devices was sent"in error.""There is no change to our policies right now with regard to TikTok," the spokesperson said. In its earlier email to employees Friday morning, obtained by CNN, Amazon said that due to"security risks, the TikTok app is no longer permitted on mobile devices that access Amazon email.
Here's what experts thinkThe original announcement would have represented the biggest company to warn its employees of TikTok as a possible security risk, following claims by US politicians that the app could undermine national security given its ties to China. Cybersecurity experts have been more cautious about that assessment.TikTok is owned by the world's most valuable startup, a Chinese company named ByteDance.
