Amanah lodges police report over racist social media posts, calls for swift action

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Amanah Negara has called for swift police actions after several social media posts touching on racial sensitivities were detected recently.

Amanah national mobility chief Mohd Sany Hamzan said they detected nine posts on Facebook and TikTok which incited racial issues.

"In my opinion these posts could also be deemed as racist and an attempt to sow hate amongst the various races which could lead to racial division. "These posts cause feelings of animosity, hate and threaten racial and religious harmony amongst Malaysians," he told reporters after lodging a police report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters on Saturday .

Mohd Zany, who was the Hulu Langat MP, urged the police to investigate the matter quickly and take stern action against anyone guilty of uploading these posts. "We hope the police would investigate the matter for misuse of networking facilities, sedition, publishing or circulating any statement, rumour or report with intent to cause, fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the state and causing disharmony, disunity, or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will, or prejudicing the maintenance of harmony or unity, on grounds of religion," he said.
