Alpine is finally planning to sell cars in America.
Right now, Alpine is a Renault spinoff that produces one traditional mid-engined sports car for the European market. By 2027, plans announced today suggest it will be an EV-only global brand producing at least three cars in multiple segments. That may mean the U.S. will not be gettingThe roadmap announced today starts with three confirmed EVs over the next three years. First up is the A290, which will be a hatchback that shares a platform with the upcoming Renault 5 EV set for sale in 2024.
Three more cars have been announced as part of the brand's "Alpine Dream Garage," but details are scarce and no timeline has been given for their arrival. Enthusiasts will be most excited to hear about the other two cars set to be built on the A110's platform; one is a roadster, while the other is a four-seat grand tourer that will continue the A310 name last used in 1985.
Details on the global expansion set to start in 2027 are scarce, but the brand says that the new lineup is tailored to "new markets including the U.S." and factors an entry to China by 2030 in its financial forecasts. The company also plans to break even on operating margin by 2026, part of an acceleration of revenue increase by 40% every year from 2022 to 2030.
