Almost every single major Biden official is making a pilgrimage to Alaska

Key Cabinet officials have been visiting Alaska to understand its issues — and to woo Murkowski.

But a mere trip is not what Murkowksi is after. It’s the ear of the Cabinet member and the policies and regulations they can affect that she craves.

“The way that he talked about the Marine Highway System after our five and a half hours on the ship was, ‘Wow, people need this in order to get to their medical appointments, in order to get their kids to school, in order to move their household goods when they’re in the military,’” Murkowski said. “We had a United States Marshals plane. We had a United States Air Force plane. And still, with the weather, we weren’t able to get there,” Garland said. “I can’t imagine what would happen in the circumstance if there was an emergency in one of the villages without roads, how hard it would be to get there.”
