Authorities say concentration of ammonia from cat urine at Hume home was so severe staff could only be exposed for 30 minutes
Animal welfare authorities have rescued almost 70 cats after they were found living in a home so filthy that the concentration of ammonia from cat urine forced inspectors to evacuate after 30 minutes.
Instead, they found 67 cats and kittens in the home, which was covered with cat faeces, piled with rubbish and had a number of dead animals throughout.Sign up for Guardian Australia’s free morning and afternoon email newsletters for your daily news roundup “We were originally alerted to this property after neighbours raised concerns regarding the smell coming from the house and the number of cats seen through the windows,” an RSPCA team leader, Karen Collier, said.
