Almost 150 parks and open spaces to be part of Glasgow tree strategy

Almost 150 parks and open spaces in Glasgow have been identified as potential locations to extend the city’s tree population and reduce CO2 emissions.

With 58,000 new trees already planted in the city over the past three years, it is hoped further planting will enhance work to reduce carbon emissions as part of the city’s effort to tackle the climate emergency. “Our tree plan has identified a significant number of new options for planting, whether those are pocket forests, adopting large, under-used open spaces or contributing to the overarching Clyde Climate Forest.

"There are many groups and organisations interested in tree planting in Glasgow and by working with them, we want to create the greenest city possible in the years ahead.”
