All systems go for Victoria Sports Cycling Team with the 11-member officially launched on Saturday at the Victoria Sports Club Lounge in Quezon City.
'It is an exciting time for Philippine sports as we aim to be the first Philippine team to regularly and actively represent the country in major international cycling tournaments in Asia and countries around the world,' said team representative Pako Ochoa.Ochoa will pedal along with fellow Filipino riders Jhay Oconer, Kelvin Mendoza, Luis Krog, Ean Cajucom, Daniel Cariño, and Jerry Aquino.
Mendez is a former World Tour Rider for Bora-Hansgrohe and two-time Portuguese national road champion, while Cardoso is a former World Tour rider for Trek Segafredo.Besides competing in UCI International races, the team also wants to contribute 'to the meteoric rise of the popularity of biking in the Philippines.
