Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as Dean and Sam Winchester from Supernatural

Supernatural is known for its death-per-episode formula that carried the show over its 15 seasons, however, there are actually seven episodes where no one dies. Supernatural is famous for its tendency to kill off and later resurrect characters, and death is a big theme in the show. Since season 1, there has been a death-per-episode formula for Supernatural in which each episode begins with an unknown character being killed off by some kind of terrifying supernatural monster.

Chuck’s pseudonym “ Carver Edlund ” is a reference to Supernatural’s writers, Jeremy Carver and Ben Edlund. Despite the lack of deaths, the episode has a lot of action and drama; Sam hallucinates while going through withdrawal, Castiel talks to Anna about his orders, and Sam and Dean have one of the worst fights in Supernatural.

4 Season 10, Episode 17, “Inside Man” Bobby Breaks Metatron Out Of Heaven Close After Dean becomes infected with the Mark of Cain, he begins to slowly succumb to the demonic curse, leading Sam and Castiel to worriedly intervene in “Inside Man.” The inside man in the episode is revealed to be Bobby, who helps Sam and Castiel to break Metatron out of his prison cell in Heaven so that he will tell them how to remove the Mark. Meanwhile, Rowena attacks Dean as she hates him for making Crowley weak.

3 Season 11, Episode 23, “Alpha and Omega” Amara Almost Killed Everyone Close Season 11’s finale marks the second Supernatural finale where no one dies, which is surprising as it follows on from the previous episode in which Amara attacks Chuck. In “Alpha and Omega,” Crowley, Chuck, Rowena, Lucifer, Castiel, and the Winchesters all assemble to see through their plan of killing Amara.

2 Season 12, Episode 2, “Mamma Mia” Sam Gets Tortured By Lady Bevell Close In “Mamma Mia,” Sam is tortured by Toni Bevell, a member of the British Men of Letters who has gone rogue, while Lucifer has possessed a rock star named Vince Vincente. The opening scene shows Sam in a hallucination with Toni, who has given him a potion as a method of torture, as opposed to the usual monster attack. Although Sam is tortured extensively, he is eventually rescued by Dean and Mary, who knock Toni out.
