Alien is reimagining a classic storyline for 2023.

This article contains spoilers for Alien Annual #1 2023 The Xenomorph species has had no shortage of gruesome conflicts throughout Alien canon, though one planet-wide war is easily their most brutal, and arguably their most iconic. And now, that conflict is getting a major reimagining for the current canon, as the stage is slowly being set for yet another Xenomorph civil war.
The conflict-in-question was the civil war on the alien homeworld of Xenomorph Prime between the normal black Xenomorphs and the abnormal red Xenomorphs. The red aliens were spawned from a deviation in Xenomorph genes within a rogue Queen that developed after the original Queen Mother was taken from the planet by Colonial Marines in a previous Alien storyline.
Introduction Of The White Xenomorph Creates Another Alien Civil War Alien Annual #1 2023 by Declan Shalvey and Danny Earls is set to hit the shelves in October 2023, and it promises to be an extension of the current ongoing Alien series, in which the aforementioned new breed of Xenomorph was recently introduced: the white Xenomorph. Like the red Xenomorph, the white Xenomorph seems to be a natural mutation that spawned into an entirely new subspecies.
Not only is the new white Xenomorph nearly identical to the red in terms of its difference to the classic Xenomorph, but the description for Alien Annual #1 2023 states outright that there will be a conflict between these two different types of Xenomorphs. This means that, in every way that matters, this new story is essentially a reimagining of the one told in Aliens: Genocide, with white Xenomorphs rather than red.
Alien Annual #1 2023 Brings A Xenomorph Civil War To Main Canon The original Xenomorph civil war between classic and red Xenomorphs from Aliens: Genocide existed in the Alien canon of Dark Horse Comics, meaning that fan-favorite conflict has essentially been lost to the aether of non-canonical storylines.
