Alex Eala barged into the semifinals of the W25 Roehampton as she overcame Priscilla Hon of Australia, 6-2, 6-4, on Friday, Aug. 10 in Great Britain.
Eala opened her campaign in the $25,000 International Tennis Federation tournament with a swift 6-3, 6-4 victory over Australian qualifier Gabrielle Da Silva-Fick before escaping her doubles partner Destanee Aiava, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, in the quarterfinals. After the first set that saw Eala dominate, Hon gained enough steam and crawled from a 1-5 hole with three straight sets won to close in on the gap.
