MISSION HILLS — The Alemany football team came into the game against Lawndale 0-4 after playing one the of tougher nonleague schedules in the area. The Warriors were able to change their fortunes Friday night defeating Lawndale 34-27.
The Warriors were able to clinch the game after Epperson scored a 31-yard touchdown run to give Alemany the 34-27 lead. Then on the kickoff following the Epperson score, Darren Coleman recovered an onside kick at Lawndale’s 43 with 2:48 left and Alemany’s offense was able to run the clock out from there.
Following the Fields score, Alemany had three turnovers in the final six minutes of the first half that included an interception from Deuce Weston that he returned 41 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 14 going into halftime. The other two first half turnovers from Alemany were two fumbles, including one on the kickoff return following Weston’s touchdown.
