Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s support for a PNG-based rugby team to enter the National Rugby League has received approval from the opposition.

Liberal Senator Paul Scarr told Sky News Australia “when I gave my first speech to parliament back in 2019, I actually … advocated for a PNG team to enter into the national rugby league competition”.
