Anthony Albanese has come out swinging against Dominic Perrottet's Kids Future Fund plan, with the Prime Minister referencing his public housing upbringing to illustrate his opposition to the policy.

Mr Perrottet this week announced a re-elected Coalition government will introduce a Kids Future Fund, which has been dubbed superannuation for children.

The government would also automatically put $200 a year into an account of a child whose parents receive Family Tax Benefit A without needing a matched contribution. But Mr Albanese, who on Friday was helping the state Labor campaign in the seat of Balmain which is contained within his Grayndler federal electorate, denounced the policy.

"It just reinforces inequality rather than addresses what is needed. A Labor policy would be giving support to the most disadvantaged and the most vulnerable." "I grew up not far from here, in public housing. There's a lot of public housing in this seat of Balmain," Mr Albanese said on Friday.
