Anthony Albanese has been grilled over Scott Morrison's future in parliament after the Royal Commission into the disastrous Robodebt scheme found Mr Morrison had 'failed to meet his ministerial responsibility'.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has remained tight-lipped over whether Scott Morrison should resign from parliament in the wake of the Royal Commission's damning findings into the failed Robodebt scheme.Robodebt was introduced in 2015 when Mr Morrison was the social services minister and was expanded when he was treasurer before it was declared unlawful in 2019.

The report found Mr Morrison had"failed to meet his ministerial responsibility" by ensuring cabinet members were informed about what the scheme entailed. In a joint press conference alongside Government Services Minister Bill Shorten on Friday, Mr Albanese was grilled by reporters on whether Mr Morrison should step down from parliament over the findings.

"As the Commissioner has made clear, there is a sealed section of the report with referrals for, to quote, the report, civil action or criminal prosecution."
