“People were expecting and hoping for – and that word hope is important – some big ticket items around housing,
some big ticket items around cost of living, some big ticket items around wages,” Mr Welsh told Sky News Australia.

‘Interesting’ of Chalmers’ claim to be ‘keenest on seeing through’ renewablesSky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says it was “interesting” for Jim Chalmers to say the thing he was “keenest on seeing through” as Australia’s Treasurer was the 2030 energy transformation to renewables. “The only good news for the government on that is 2030 is so far away that they will never be held to account on it,” Mr Clennell told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “That is the beauty of a long-term target isn’t it?”

‘We don’t want stunts, we want outcomes’ from the government: Peter DuttonThe Opposition doesn’t want “stunts” from the Albanese government, they want outcomes, according to Opposition leader Peter Dutton. Labor’s budget was a ‘steady as she goes’ budgetFormer Labor advisor Darrin Barnett says the federal budget delivered last week was a “steady as she goes” kind of budget. Mr Barnett said he's not about the idea that middle Australia feels let down by the budget. 'But certainly it wasn’t the bag of goodies that people got during the Howard years but equally it wasn’t the horror show of the 2014 budget either,' Mr Barnett told Sky News Australia.

National Party was good at ‘announcements’ but not ‘building things’: PMPrime Minster Anthony Albanese says the National Party was “good at announcements”, but not good at “building things”. “They took inland too literally – like, the whole idea of the Inland Rail project was to improve freight and to improve exports,” Mr Albanese said during a media conference on Monday. “If it doesn’t go to a port, it’s pretty hard to see how it works and that was a cost of $31 billion before you add on the necessary links as well.”
